Hey ya’ll!
Today I wanted to share with you 5 tips on how to reach your goals in 2018!
Before I had this blog, before I was ever working from home full time, for as long as I can remember I’ve set goals for myself. My goals have changed a lot over time, and the way I set goals has changed, too, but I always have something that I am working towards.
Today I’m going to share 5 tips to get you started and help you reach your goals this year.
1. Set Your Goals
This is obviously the first step, because how will you know what you are working towards if you don’t set goals? However you end up doing, I really encourage you to set goals for yourself in the new year. Even if you pick one thing to focus on (sometimes that’s more effective, anyway!), you’ll be surprised what you can accomplish when you set a target on in and aim for it. Think about what you want to accomplish in your life and write it down. Make it concrete and make a promise to yourself to work towards it consistently.
2. Be Specific
In this e-course, I talk a lot about SMART goals, and I have a whole printable dedicated to making sure your goals are SMART. This means that they are specific, measurable, actionable, realistic, and timely. The most important part of setting SMART goals is being specific. You can’t reach your goals if you are being vague with what you want to accomplish. Instead of setting a goal such as “save money” you need to know how much you are going to save, and then you need to know how you are going to save that amount. It has to be measurable and realistic to accomplish in one year. You won’t know that it is unless you have a specific amount that you want to save.
3. Know Your Why
Knowing your WHY is probably my favorite part of goal setting. A big problem with setting goals and seeing them through is staying motivated. If you want to stay motivated, you need to know WHY you are setting these goals and exactly what achieving them will mean for your life. This is the only way you will stick with your goals when things get tough and you start having to work for those goals.
4. Make a Plan
Finally, once you know your goals, you’ll need to make a plan for how you will accomplish it. What will you do each month, each week, and each day to get you closer and make progress on your goals? You’ll want to work your way backwards and know exactly what you need to do.
5. Act on It!
Finally, your plan doesn’t do any good if you don’t act on it. Reaching your goals is going to mean working everyday towards reaching them and putting all your planning and dreaming into practice. Without the work we can never reach our goals, and so that is definitely the final piece and probably the biggest part of goal setting- following through.
I go more in depth into all of these in the mini course, and I am so excited to launch it and start helping you guys make your plans for 2018.
