Hey guys, I hope you are all doing fabulous and sticking to your New Years resolutions! For me, one of the hardest parts about weight loss is finding time to workout and even being motivated to work out at home. I used to have a gym membership, which I really loved, but then it was hard to get time to out and go to the gym while my husband stayed home with the little one- he works and goes to school so he spends a lot of time out of the house. I figured that many of you deal with the same things, so today I wanted to share my 10 at home fitness essentials.
This is my newest Jillian Michaels DVD to add to my collection- I love her workouts!
I love Chris Powell! I think he is soooo motivating!
This is my go-to favorite at home workout.
I recommend stocking up on a few DVDs, they’re usually only $5-$10 a piece and I find that having a variety really helps me to get up and get a workout in each day. It also helps to have something to change it up from Jillian Michaels because her workouts are very effective, but very centered on squats, and your legs might feel like they’re going to fall off- it helps to have something different so you can still workout!
My favorite, favorite water bottle- this is super important! I keep mine with me all day throughout the house and even when running errands so that I’m sipping on water and getting my daily dose. I keep a pitcher of water in the fridge so I always have cold water to refill it with. No excuses to not get my ounces in each day!
You can start the Shred it With Weights DVDs with a light dumbbell, but I have found that these kettle bells are simply amazing, and really give you a good workout, plus you can get this set and have some weight variations to do some other at home strength training exercises.
Track your calories burned during your workout with the Polar FT7- I LOVE mine! I use it everyday and it was well worth the investment. Most online calories burned estimators GROSSLY over-estimate and do not give accurate numbers. This is a must-have if you want to count calories in vs. calories out.
Another highly recommended sports wrist band- the Fitbit counts steps, distance walked, calories burned, and active minutes for the whole day! You can wear it day and night- even in the shower. This wrist band even monitors your sleep and wakes you with a silent alarm- perfect for early morning workout wakeups!
I cant overestimate the power of cute workout clothes. I know I personally feel much better when I have something cute to put on so that I feel great even while working out and working to lose weight!
This is another must-have. A good sports bra is important for many, many reasons, and you can also get them in some cute designs and colors. This one has lots of support and is one of my top picks.
10. Yoga Mat
Not only do you need this if you do a yoga workout at home, but they can come in handy because most all of your at home workout programs have some sort of floor exercises, and I know my floor is pretty hard. I also want to do more yoga and meditation this year- both of which you need a good mat for!
So, these are my top at home fitness essentials. With these items you can be well on your way to becoming fit and healthy at home. No gym membership required, and no excuses! BONUS! Have you seen my recently improved Health & Fitness planner?? I’ve added lots of great pages to help you reach your fitness goals!
I am looking forward to working towards my weight loss goals this year & if you are on a fitness journey of your own I wish you health & success in 2015! Good luck, everyone!!
