Hey guys! Today I wanted to talk a little bit about what we can all do with our families to “go green” and have a little less impact on our planet Earth. I want to start by saying that the most important thing you can do is find things that work for your family that you can do consistently. If you have an idea, but you don’t think your family will ever commit to it, it’s probably best to look at other things that you can do regularly.
There are so many things that we can do within our own homes, but I’m going to share 5 things that we do. They are simple, and I know that you will find some ideas for your family, too.
The first thing that I try to do is use reusable grocery bags. I know a lot of people think these are a pain, but there are a couple of things that have helped me make this a reality. First of all, as soon as I’m done unloading groceries, I take my bags back out to the car. That way, I always have them with me. Then, I know cashiers can sometimes be annoyed by them, but I usually try to bag for them or help them bag, and it helps!
Another thing that I try to do is use reusable containers. I know that it’s easy and convenient to use throw away coffee cups, plastic storage bags, disposable containers, and things like that, but just by investing in some good quality things that I can reuse, I can cut way back on the amount of plastic things I’m using.
I know some people take it a step further and completely eliminate paper towel products from their homes, too. I’ve been seeing a lot of people use reusable towels instead of paper, and I would love to make that change soon.
The next thing you can do is use natural products in your home to avoid chemicals and exposing your family to those things. You can find natural options in many healthy and beauty, and household items. One thing that we love to use is Tom’s of Maine® Luminous White™ Toothpaste Clean Mint toothpaste.
Tom’s of Maine is safe on enamel, safe for everyday use, and can give you whiter teeth in two weeks*! There are no artificial flavors, colors, or preservatives, and it is made of biodegradable, mineral-derived ingredients. I am loving Luminous White, which is Tom’s of Maine’s most advanced whitening toothpaste, ever. Finding a great whitening toothpaste that is natural can be hard, but Tom’s of Maine Luminous White is great!
I love spending my money with companies that I can really get behind, and Tom’s of Maine is definitely one of those. They are looking out for my family as well as the community and our planet. It doesn’t get much better than that.
If you’d like to try Tom’s of Maine Luminous White, you can find it at your local Walmart!
Finally, my last easy tip for lessening your family’s impact is going meatless! Many families do “Meatless Monday” where they eat a vegan or vegetarian meal. My family has gone completely vegan before, and now we’ve settled in with eating a few meals a week that don’t include meat or dairy. Not only can this be healthier, but giving up meat just once a week can really make an impact over the long term.
There you have it, 5 easy ways your family can “go green” and help create a better planet for future generations. We can all do little things that make a big impact, for sure. What “green” things does your family do? Share in the comments!
