Hey guys! Today I wanted to share something different with you all. This is the story of our Clover girl. Clover is our Golden Retriever.
Clover has been a part of our family for almost 4 years now! Our oldest son had just turned one when we decided it was the perfect time for a pet. My husband and I both had pets growing up that we loved, and we knew that she would be our son’s best friend, too. Little did we know that she would change our lives, as well! We say at least a couple of times a week that she is the best dog ever.
Even though our dog is not a service dog, I related so much to the video below from Milk-Bone and Canine Assistants. When we got our dog, it was really like she chose us. She was a part of a litter of Golden Retriever puppies, and we wanted to go in and meet with all of the puppies and see which one seemed like it was a great fit for us. She came up and played and interacted with us, and she would have gone home with us that day if she didn’t need to spend more time with her mama first. I remember calling and telling the woman to be sure that was our puppy, because she was the one we wanted to bring home.
We drove a few hours through the North Carolina farm fields to visit her and then again to pick her up when it was time, and it was so worth it. She truly has been a blessing to our family.
She loves to play, and play some more. She runs circles around both of my boys, now, and she loves them so much. One of our baby’s first words has been “Crover” and he loves that he can call her and she comes running. He’s kept from the kitchen because of a baby gate, but she always sits there to wait for him and give him kisses.
We thought we we’re getting a dog for our family, but we got so much more. This year, Milk-Bone is celebrating their 20th anniversary working with Canine Assistants, a non-profit organization that trains and provides service dogs to children and adults with physical disabilities and special needs.
We, of course, love that Milk-Bone supports this cause, so we support Milk-Bone. Of course, it doesn’t hurt that Milk-Bone makes all of her favorite treats. Just like the dogs in our life, Milk-Bone makes treats that do more.
To celebrate the anniversary, Milk-Bone has made this special video showcasing some of the dogs and pet parents that they have helped.
Do you have a special dog in your life? How do they make your life special? Tell us in the comments.
