Salisbury Steak Meatballs

Here’s what you’ll need to make these-

  • 1 ½ lb. ground beef
  • 2 (10.5 oz) cans of french onion soup
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 eggs
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 2 cups Panko breadcrumbs, divided
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • ½ cup water
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp mustard powder
  • Salt & pepper to taste

My husband swears by a panko breadcrumb mixture for the best meatballs. Here’s how to make this verison.

  • In a small bowl, mix together 1 cup of the Panko breadcrumbs and milk, set aside.
  • In another large bowl, beat eggs, and add in salt, pepper, and garlic.
  • Add ground beef and mix the beef and egg mixture until just combined.
  • Add  ½ of a can french onion soup (save the remaining for later), breadcrumb mixture, and additional 1 cup of dry breadcrumbs. Mix again, just until combined.
    • Be careful not to overwork your meatball mixture when combining ingredients.
  • In a large bowl, mix together flour, ketchup, water, Worcestershire sauce, 1 ½ cans of french onion soup, mustard powder, salt, and pepper. Set sauce mixture aside.
  • Form 1 inch meatballs from the mixture.
  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat.
  • Slightly brown your meatballs, 1-2 minutes per side, just to crust the outsides.
  • Pour sauce mixture over the meatballs and bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat and simmer 18-20 minutes, until meatballs are cooked through.
  • While the meatballs are finishing, prep your egg noodles or rice to serve the meatballs over.

These are so yummy!
