I have a fun Summer post to share with you guys today! We love having picnics, and Spring and Summer are the perfect time of year to make them happen. A picnic can be a whole lot of fun with a little planning and preparation. So, today I’m sharing my picnic planning tips and some printables that you can download and print to get it all organized.
Okay, so the first step to picnic planning is deciding on a menu. Easy to eat foods are always great- anything easy to pack and eat, especially things that don’t require utensils. Think about things that you can prepare in advance and take along, like sandwiches. You can do most of the prep work and just leave off things like condiments that may make sandwiches soggy. Everyone has different preferences, so whatever foods you want to serve at your picnic, make a list using my Picnic Menu printable and make your shopping list from that. Being prepared and using a checklist to make sure you have the items you need will make the difference between a stressful disaster picnic and a fun afternoon with your family.
We love easy to make sandwiches and snacking better together with great tasting snacks made from simple, high quality ingredients, such as Snack Factory® Pretzel Crips® and Snyder’s of Hanover® Pretzels. We pick up these picnic worthy snacks at our local Publix store!
Once you have your menu planned you’ll want to be sure you have all of the other picnic supplies you need. Some suggestions include:
- Ice
- Drinks
- Condiments
- Cups and plates
- Utensils
- Napkins
- Trash bags
- Moist Towelettes
- Paper Towels
- Blanket or table cloth
- A bag or basket to carry supplies
You can download my Picnic Supplies checklist here. I love using a giant plastic tub to carry our picnic supplies in- it doubles as a cooler once you get to your picnic location to keep drinks and other supplies cold.
