Gingerbread Playdough + Gingerbread Man Playdough Mat
We created the best smelling playdough this weekend that is perfect for the holidays. I’ve got the recipe for this Gingerbread Playdough for you, and a fun printable gingerbread man playdough mat that you can print and laminate for your little ones.
I love making homemade playdough. Technically, you do have to “cook” this version, but it takes just a few minutes. It also includes cream of tartar. If you like making homemade playdough, I always try to just keep some on hand.
Gingerbread Playdough Ingredients
Here’s the full list of supplies you’ll need-
- 1 1/4 cup flour
- 1/4 cup salt
- 2 tsp cream of tartar
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tsp ground cloves
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 1 cup water
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Instructions
Step 1: Start by whisking together your dry ingredients and adding them to a pot.
Step 2: Add in the water and oil, and mix well. Cook playdough on medium-low for just a few minutes until dough begins to thicken and forms a ball.
Step 3: Remove from the heat and allow the dough to cool enough to handle. Finish the dough by kneading it by hand. If the dough is still too sticky, add flour a little at a time and knead through.
There you have it, homemade gingerbread playdough!
