To be honest, the thought of combining vanilla ice cream with hot chocolate never really occurred to me. But, now that I’ve done it, there’s no going back. This Dirty Snowman Drink is really something different and has become a new winter time favorite for us. It’s not really for kids, unless you omit the alcohol, which is still great, by the way. It only takes 3 ingredients, which if you are a Bailey’s fan, you might already have on hand, plus some toppings. Let’s get into how to make this fun hot chocolate cocktail.

To make this dirty snowman drink, or drunken snowman cocktail, you’ll need 2 scoops of your favorite vanilla ice cream (Hello, Blue Bell), 1-2 oz. Baileys Irish Cream, and 1 cup of hot chocolate prepared. Now, for me- I love the old milk and Swiss Miss combo, so if that’s your jam go for it. Or, you could make a fancier hot cocoa ahead of making this drink, if you prefer.

Then, of course we topped it with whipped cream and chocolate jimmies sprinkles. You can use any sprinkles you prefer, some cute Snowman themed sprinkles would be really cool.

2 scoops vanilla ice cream
1-2 oz. Baileys Irish Cream (or, homemade Irish cream)
1 cup hot chocolate, prepared
whipped cream for topping
sprinkles for topping

How to Make It

Here’s how to make this drink-

In your favorite cocktail glass, scoop 2 scoops of vanilla ice cream.
Pour in your Baileys
Pour hot chocolate over the ice cream and Baileys
Top with whipped cream and sprinkles
Enjoy (a spoon is helpful!)

The way that the hot chocolate starts to melt the vanilla ice cream makes this so good. I had to use a spoon with mine, and eat it almost like a root beer float. So good! This adult hot chocolate cocktail is so much fun!

In hot chocolate cocktails, it’s called a dirty hot chocolate because it has alcohol included! We call this one a dirty snowman hot chocolate cocktail, or a drunken snowman drink because of the scoop of vanilla ice cream!

Can I add more booze?

Yes! While our version is more of a Baileys Dirty Snowman, there is lots of room in this drink for even more alcohol, if desired. I would recommend a whipped cream vodka, or regular vodka. You could even use rum and it would be delicious!
