Mexican Flag Jello Shots
These Mexican Flag Jello Shots are so fun for celebrating Cinco De Mayo. These tequila jello shots are layered to resemble the Mexican flag. There’s a layer of strawberry jello, a layer of lime jello, and a white layer that all have tequila in the mix. Most of our jello shots contain vodka instead of tequila, so these are a super fun twist.

Why we love these jello shots-
- They are so festive! Perfect for Cinco De Mayo, Flag Day in Mexico, or even celebrating the Mexico National Football Team!
- They are easy to make! It takes a little patience waiting for the individual layers to set, but the process of making these really couldn’t be any easier.
- The next time you want to wow your guests with a fun and festive boozy treat, these are the perfect option.
Ingredients:
- 1 (3 oz.) package of Lime jello
- 1 (12 oz.) can of sweetened condensed milk
- 1 (3 oz.) package of strawberry jello
- 1 envelope of Knox unflavored gelatin
- 4 cups of water, divided
- 1 ½ cups of tequila, divided
- Whipped cream for topping
- 3 oz. plastic shot glasses.

Directions:
Step 1: Start with the green colored layer. In a medium saucepan, bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Remove from the heat and whisk in green jello, stirring until dissolved. Add ½ cup of cold water and ½ cup tequila, and stir to combine.

Step 2: Pour the green jello mixture evenly between your 3 oz. cups, filling them about one-third of the way full.

Step 3: Move the cups to the refrigerator to chill for 2 hours.
Step 4: For the next layer of jello, the white jello, in a medium saucepan, whisk together 1 cup water and 1 envelope of knox gelatin. Heat to barely a boil. Remove from the heat and pour in sweetened condensed milk and ½ cup tequila, stir to combine. Allow the mixture to cool completely.

Step 5: Once the mixture has cooled, add to your jello shot cups, filling ⅔ of the way full, leaving equal room for the last layer. You may have extra of the sweetened condensed milk mixture, which you can discard.

Step 6: Move the cups back to the refrigerator to chill for another 2 hours.
Step 7: For the final layer of red jello, bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Remove from the heat and whisk in strawberry jello, until dissolved. Add ½ cup cold water and ½ cup tequila, and stir to combine. Allow the strawberry jello mixture to cool completely.

Step 8: Once jello is cool, pour mixture into your shot cups, filling the remainder of the way with strawberry jello.

Step 9: Move the cups back to the refrigerator to chill for 2 more hours, or until ready to serve. For easy transporting, place the cups into the cups of a muffin tin.
Step 10: Before serving, top with whipped cream and red and green sprinkles.

FAQs & Tips:
- Keep these jello shots cold until ready to serve, even at room temperature the jello can begin to melt.
- If you don’t love tequila, you can use any other kind of alcohol that you enjoy in the same amounts.
- The best tequila for these jello shots is the best you can get for your budget! A good mid-range tequila is perfect, but I have also used some cheaper liquors in my jello shots with no issues at all. The jello does most of the work.
What happens if I put too much alcohol in jello shots?
Jello shots won’t set properly with too much alcohol. I like to stick to a rule of using 1/2 cup liquor in every two cups of jello mixture.
What alcohol is best for jello shots?
Any clear liquor- tequila, rum, or vodka, will work great without altering the jello flavors too much.
