Ingredients:
Popcorn, popped – we used 1 bag of our favorite butter microwave popcorn. If you use a different popcorn, you’ll need about 10 cups.
Candy Melts – we used pink and white, but you could also use red meltable candy.
Sprinkles – we sprinkled our popcorn with a fun Valentine’s sprinkle mix.
Cupid’s Mix M&M’s – my boys love M&Ms with their popcorn, so we also added the fun Valentines colored Cupid’s Mix.
Directions
Step 1: Add a piece of parchment paper to a large baking sheet.
Step 2: Add the popped popcorn in a single layer on the baking sheet covered with parchment.
Step 3: Melt the white candy melts by adding to a microwave safe bowl and microwaving on 20 second intervals, stirring well between each.
Step 4: Once melted, drizzle the candy over the popcorn.
Step 5: Sprinkle with about half of the sprinkles and M&Ms.
Step 6: Melt the pink candy melts, then drizzle over the popcorn.
Step 7: Sprinkle the rest of the sprinkles & M&Ms.
Step 8: Allow the mixture to set, until candy melt drizzles are solid. Then, toss and break up into small pieces.
Store any leftovers in an airtight container.
Can I drizzle the popcorn with melted chocolate?
Absolutely! Candy melts are a vanilla candy that is easily melted, almost like almond bark, but you can also melt milk chocolate, dark chocolate, or even white chocolate candy to drizzle the popcorn with.
Are there other candy mix-in options?
You can mix in whatever you like to totally customize your popcorn! Some other great ideas include mini marshmallows, any kind of candy you like, pretzels, and more. The possibilities are endless and you can take this popcorn into a fun Valentines snack mix easily.
Can you use air popped popcorn instead of microwave?
Yes, you can definitely use air-popped popcorn instead of microwave popcorn. Air-popped popcorn is a healthier alternative to the pre-packaged, too.
Where do you find Candy Melts?
Candy Melts can also be found at craft stores, specialty baking supply shops, party supply stores, and some grocery stores- we often get ours at Walmart. If you can’t find Candy Melts, the Meltables and Melt ‘Ems brands are great, as well.
We hope you love this fun and festive Valentine’s Popcorn treat. We love a good sweet and salty popcorn snack, and this one is a lot of fun to make. The combination of popcorn and candy is a favorite among our kids, they even enjoy making the popcorn themselves with a little help.
