We used these salami rosettes in our Easter charcuterie board, and they are also perfect for Mother’s Day boards, Valentine’s Day boards, and more. They’re so easy to make, and don’t take much time at all. This is a simple, quick tutorial that will drastically change the look of your cheese boards or charcuterie.

To make salami flowers, or if you have large sliced pepperoni, pepperoni roses, start by separating the slices of salami or pepperoni. To make the roses, you’ll need a traditional 1.5 ounce shot glass, or a champagne flute will also work well.

Step 1: Place the shot glass (or champagne flute) down onto the counter.

Step 2: Begin folding the salami in half over the edge of the shot or champagne glass.

Step 4: Repeat for about 3-4 layers, and turn the glass upside down to remove the roses. If you need additional layers of meat, feel free to place the rose back onto the glass and add more.

How to Make Charcuterie Roses

The edges of salami poking up look just like rose petals, and there you have a beautiful salami rose for your board. Larger slices of salami will make larger roses, but if you can get your hands on smaller pieces of thinly sliced salami, you can make smaller roses as well. The size of your pieces of meat will determine the size of the rose. This simple idea adds so much to your gorgeous charcuterie board creations.

FAQs & Tips:

How many pieces of salami does it take to make a rose?

The number of salami slices you need varies. It takes 12-16 pieces to make a larger rose with a shot glass. It takes about 4 slices to make a layer and we do 3-4 layers of salami for our roses on that size glass.

  • Make some of these meat flowers for your next charcuterie board to really wow your guests.
  • If all you have is a larger glass, like a wine glass, you can still do this method, but you will need to double or triple the amount of meat and add more layers to get the rose shape. For smaller flowers, use glasses with a smaller opening like a champagne flute or shot glass. The size of the glass will greatly affect the size of the flower.
  • A smaller glass opening will require the least amount of slices to make your roses.
  • You can also make smaller pieces of salami by cutting your larger pieces with a smaller circle cookie cutter.

We hope you enjoy making these charcuterie roses for your next board. It takes a little practice, but you’ll get the hang of it in no time. If you feel like your roses aren’t full enough, add additional layers of meat (if you have more slices of meat to use).
