FAQs

Can I use store-bought cake for my summer trifle?

Yes, absolutely. We used a premade angel food cake to make our trifle. Now, with quality in mind, you may get better results with a homemade angel food or pound cake recipe that is tried and true for you- it just depends on you preferences and if you want those extra steps.

Can I make a this without a trifle dish?

While a trifle dish is traditional for assembling a trifle, you can still make this recipe without one. You can use a glass trifle bowl, a large mixing bowl, a deep baking dish, or even individual serving glasses to layer the ingredients. Just alter the number of layers accordingly. If preparing in a deep baking dish, simply layer the cake on the bottom, top with pudding, cool whip, and fruit!
