5 Ways to Stay Motivated to Reach Your Goals

We have been talking a lot about goal so far this month. However, you can set your goals and you can write them down in your best handwriting in your favorite planner 😉 , but none of that matters if you don’t stick to your goals and stay focused. Today I’m sharing 5 ways to stay motivated to see your goals through until you reach them.

5 Ways to Stay Motivated to Reach Your Goals

I love everything about the New Year… a completely fresh start and another chance to set new goals and really make a difference in what you want to achieve for the year. I walk you through my entire process of setting goals and what I do to make sure that I’ll reach them in my planner + course, and today I have 5 things that you can do to help keep yourself motivated this year.

1. Create a Vision Board

I absolutely love vision boards. I haven’t made mine yet for this year, but you can see an older vision board of mine, plus a few other great examples in this post here. Basically, you’ll take a piece of poster board or if you have access to a large cork board you can use that, too. You’ll want to print out images or dig through your favorite magazines to find images that really represent the things you wan’t to achieve, and the vision that you have for your life. Do you want to lose weight? Fitness magazines are great for finding inspiring images and quotes. Maybe you want to purchase your dream home this year… find a photo of a home like the one you’d love to have and include that in your board.

2. Know Your Why

I go in depth with this in my course, but the biggest factor for myself when it comes to staying motivated is knowing my WHY- the reason why I want to accomplish my goals and exactly how they will change my life once I do. This can be so motivating for me and it completely changed the way that I set goals.

3. Keep the Bigger Picture in Mind

This goes right along with knowing your WHY. What is the big picture goal that you have in mind? Do you want to lose 40 lbs? Keep an image of what that would look like for you in the front of your mind. Little steps and goals along the way can be tedious and it can be hard to keep your eye on the bigger picture goal, but by doing this you will have no problem staying motivated to reach it.

4. Journaling

Speaking of keeping your goals at the forefront of your mind, a great way to do that is through Journaling. By taking a little bit of time each day to journal about your goals, your progress, and how you are feeling as you go can help keep your goals on your mind. Out of sight out of mind applies for goals too, but since goals are really intangible, you have to make an effort to revisit them frequently, and this is a great way to do that.

5. Tell Someone

Sometimes, I can feel like I sabatoge myself by “announcing” my goals, almost like I start focusing on that fear of failure and people knowing that I failed. However, if you have someone like your significant other or maybe a parent that you can tell about your goals, or maybe even a friend with similar goals, it can be helpful to have a person that can help hold you accountable.
