If you’ve ever set a goal and forgotten about it a few weeks later… you’re not alone. The truth is, most goals fail- not because you aren’t motivated, but because you don’t have a system. Today, I’m going to show you exactly how to set goals that actually work (and stick), plus give you a free printable goal planner to make it easy.

Step 1: Start with a clear vision
Before you write a single goal, ask yourself:
- What do I actually want my life to look like?
- What would make this feel successful?
Think in categories-
- Health
- Income
- Finances
- Personal growth
- Fun & hobbies
Step 2: Choose 3-5 main goals
More is NOT better.
Focus on: a few meaningful goals that you can realistically work on.
Example:
- Save $5,000
- Work out 3x per week
- Declutter entire home
Step 3: Make your goals specific
Instead of “get healthy,” try “Walk 8,000 steps daily and cook at home 4 nights per week.”
Step 4: Break goals into action steps
This is where most people fail.
Take your goal and ask:
“What does this look like weekly?”
Example: Goal – Save $5,000
- Cut $100/month expenses
- Sell unused items
- Track spending weekly
Step 5: Track your progress
Tracking = success.
Use:
- Habit Trackers
- Monthly check-ins
- Weekly planning sessions
This is where a printable or planner makes a HUGE difference.

Step 6: Build habits (not just goals)
Goals are outcomes. Habits are what gets you there.
Focus on:
- Small daily actions
- Consistency over perfection
Step 7: Review + reset monthly
Every month:
- What worked?
- What didn’t?
- What needs adjusting?
This keeps you from “falling off track.”
