Oreo Bats

Ingredients

Oreos- You’ll need 18 whole Oreo cookies.

Melting Chocolate – We used 1 (12 oz.) package of dark chocolate melting wafers

Eyes, of course! – 24 candy eyeballs

How to Make Oreo Bats

Step 1: Take 6 of the Oreo cookies, and separate the halves. Remove the frosting, but reserve it for later. You can swipe it onto a piece of parchment or on the edge of a cup or bowl. We’ll need it to re-assemble the bats.

Step 2: Take a sharp knife and use a sawing motion to divide the cookie halves in half. The sawing keeps the cookies from breaking into more than two pieces. *You should have 24 cookie pieces to make the wings.

Step 3: Take the remaining 12 Oreo cookies and separate the halves. Lay them out onto a cutting board or on parchment paper, dividing the ones with filling and the ones without.

Step 4: Take the halved cookie halves (the wings) from earlier, and press two into a cookie halve with filling on it.

Step 5: Swipe a bit of the reserved filling onto the cookie to add just a little more filling. Then, press a “blank” oreo half on top to reassemble the cookie and seal on the wings. Place the reassembled cookies into a cookie cooling rack.

Step 6: Add the chocolate melting wafers to a microwave safe bowl, and heat on 30 second increments, stirring between, until melted.

Step 7: Use a small spoon to drizzle the chocolate over the oreo bat body, smoothing out the chocolate to cover the middle oreo.

Step 8: Place two candy eyes into the melted chocolate.

Step 9: Repeat for all of the bats, and allow the chocolate to set, then enjoy!
