These yummy little wonton taco cups are made with wonton wrappers, are crunchy, and super delicious for dinner, snacking on an appetizer table. We used just a few ingredients to put these together, and you could easily create a taco cup bar and let your guests build their own taco cups, using the taco fillings however they like! Let’s talk about how to make this easy taco cups appetizer.

This fun appetizer is super easy to bring together on a day where you are preparing lots of different snacks, and you just need a few simple ingredients. They are the perfect appetizer or a great, easy dinner idea that the whole family will love. Here’s what you’ll need-

Wonton Taco Cup Ingredients

  • 18 wonton wrappers (we love these from Nasoya)
  • 1 lb. lean ground beef
  • 1 packet of taco seasoning
  • Water according to taco packet directions
  • Shredded cheese, for topping
  • Sour cream, for topping
  • Sliced green onions, for topping
  • 1-2 Roma tomatoes, chopped, for topping

How to Make Taco Wonton Cups

Step 1: Preheat your oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit.

Step 2: Spray a muffin tin with non-stick cooking spray.

Step 3: Press wonton wrappers into the bottom of each muffin cup, leaving 4 corners going up the sides to form cups.

Step 4: Bake in a 350 degree oven for 5 minutes, until cup corners are turning golden brown. Meanwhile, line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 5: Once cups are finished baking, move them onto the parchment paper.

Step 6: In a large skillet, brown ground beef over medium heat, chopping into small pieces.

Step 7: Once beef is browned, drain excess grease, and follow the directions on the taco seasoning pack to make the taco meat.

Step 8: Divide the ground beef mixture evenly among 18 wonton cups.

Step 9: Add a layer of shredded cheese to each wonton cup.

Step 10: Return cups to the oven for about 5 minutes, baking until the cheese is melted.

When serving, garnish the top of each taco cup with a small dollop of sour cream, sliced green onions, chopped tomato, and any of your other favorite toppings for tacos.

Substitutions & Tips:

  • You can easily substitute ground turkey or ground chicken for these crunchy taco cups.
  • Use any of your favorite taco toppings to top the cups. Black Beans, refried beans, diced onion, black olives, jalapeno, a little sour cream, and a bit of Mexican rice would all be delicious!
  • ​Use any cheese you like- cheddar cheese, fiesta blend, or colby jack are all delicious.
  • Feel free to double up the wonton wrappers, alternating the corners to reinforce the cups.
