How to Build a Charcuterie Board for Two

Creating a beautiful board doesn’t have to be complicated. Follow these simple steps:

1. Start with cheese

Place your main cheese (like the goat cheese log) in a small dish in the center of the bord. This acts as your anchor. Alternatively, anything in bowls like dips, etc.. can go down first.

2. Add meats with texture

Fold or ribbon your salami and prosciutto around the bowl. This adds visual interest and makes the board feel full.

3. Add crackers.

They are a must to pair with the meats and cheeses. I fanned the crackers out to balance out the board.

4. Add the pickles to one side

Add pickles for a salty, tangy contrast. We kept these all together so that the pickle flavors stay contained to that side.

5. Fill in with cheese cubes

Add a pile or two of cheese cubes around the board to fill space.

Tips for the Perfect Small Charcuterie Board

  • Keep it balanced- aim for a mix of creamy, crunchy, salty, and fresh
  • Don’t overcrowd- leave a little space around the outside so none of your ingredients fall off the board.
  • Think height- you can pile up extra ingredients like crackers and cheese to make the board more full and have more of those ingredients included.
  • Pre-slice any cheeses for easier eating.

Easy Swaps & Variations

  • Make this board your own with simple swaps:
  • Swap cheddar for pepper jack or gouda
  • Use turkey or ham instead of salami
  • Add nuts like almonds or cashews
  • Include a sweet element like honey or small candy, like M&Ms
  • Try different fruits like strawberries or apple slices

Small Charcuterie Board for Two

This easy charcuterie board for two is the perfect no-cook appetizer for date nights, picnics, movie nights, or casual entertaining. Made with a delicious assortment of cured meats, cheese, crackers, grapes, and pickles, it's a simple snack board that's ready in just 10 minutes and easy to customize with your favorite ingredients.

Prep Time 10 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 (4 ounce) goat cheese log (or other soft cheese)
  • 4 ounces sliced salami
  • 2 ounces sliced prosciutto
  • 20–25 buttery crackers
  • 6–8 mini dill pickles or cornichons
  • 8 ounces cheddar cheese cubes
  • 1 cup green grapes

Instructions

  1. Start with the cheese. Place the goat cheese log in a small serving bowl and position it in the center of your charcuterie board. This creates an anchor for the rest of the ingredients. If you're serving dips, olives, or other items in bowls, place those on the board first as well.
  2. Arrange the meats. Fold or ribbon the salami and prosciutto, then arrange them around the bowl of cheese. Creating folds and waves adds texture and makes the board look full and inviting.
  3. Add the crackers. Fan the crackers along one side of the board, making them easy to grab while helping balance the overall layout.
  4. Place the pickles. Arrange the mini pickles together on one side of the board. Keeping them grouped helps contain their briny flavor and prevents it from transferring to other ingredients.
  5. Fill in with cheese cubes. Add one or two piles of cheddar cheese cubes around the board, filling in empty spaces while making the board look abundant.
  6. Finish with the fresh fruit. Add the grapes to the remaining open area of the board. The fresh fruit adds color, sweetness, and the perfect finishing touch to your charcuterie board for two.
