Christmas Crack Candy
I’m so excited to share our recipe for Christmas Crack Candy! This saltine cracker toffee candy is so delicious and perfect for your list of Christmas candy recipes to make this year. It is layered with saltine crackers, a sweet, buttery toffee mixture, melted semi-sweet chocolate, and Christmas M&M candies. You can customize your bark toppings to make your own custom candy, but the base is the important part with this recipe. The crispy texture and salty sweet combination is so delicious! It is one of our favorite holiday treats.
Why we love this recipe-
- The sweet and salty flavor makes the perfect combination for a tasty holiday treat. We love the simple ingredients and how fool proof this easy recipe is.
- This candy is so easy to make for gifting! My mom asks me every year to make some of this candy crack. Just package it up in some festive tins and you are good to go.
- This candy gives you a fun alternative to cookies for your cookie plate for Santa or cookie tray for a party.
Ingredients:
- 40 Saltine Crackers
- 1 Cup Salted Butter
- 1 Cup light brown sugar, packed
- 2 Cups Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips (or chunks!)
- 1 cup red and green M&Ms
Directions:
Step 1: Preheat your oven to 400 degrees farenheit. Line a rimmed large baking sheet or sheet pan with parchment paper or aluminum foil, and spray with non-stick cooking spray.
Step 2: Then, add the crackers- you want the whole pan filled with a single layer of saltine crackers.
Step 3: In a medium saucepan, heat the butter and brown sugar to a rolling boil. Reduce the heat and let simmer 3-4 minutes. Pour the brown sugar mixture over top of the saltine crackers, as evenly as you can.
Step 6: Place the pan into the oven and heat for 5-6 minutes, until bubbling.
Step 7: Remove the pan from the oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over top. Give the chocolate a minute or so to get melted. Use an offset spatula (or just a regular spatula) to spread the melted chocolate chips around to cover the top of the crackers.
Step 8: Sprinkle the M&Ms evenly over top of the chocolate layer.
Step 10: Place the pan into the freezer for 30 minutes. Then, break the crack up into pieces.
Step 11:Enjoy! Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 10 days.
Tips:
- You can also dress this up even more with some holiday sprinkles!
- You can also sprinkle nuts over the chocolate.
