Red White and Blue Sangria
This patriotic Red White and Blue Sangria is such a fun recipe for a Summer barbecue, July 4th, or even Labor Day or Memorial Day! We used fresh berries and apples cut into star shapes for this easy white wine sangria that is perfect for Summer!
Here’s why we love this festive red white & blue sangria-
- It is the perfect Summer cocktail to serve to a crowd. You can put it in a very large pitcher or even a large bowl like a punch bowl!
- We love the delicious flavors of the wine, peach schnapps, and fresh fruit.
- It is the perfect drink for patriotic holidays, and you can mix it up in just a few simple steps.
What kind of alcohol is in sangria?
Typically sangria is made with wine, but it can also include liqueurs, and lots of sangrias also include vodka! We used white wine and peach schnapps, but also see my notes below on how you can include the festive Red White and Berry vodka, as well!
How long should Sangria soak?
It’s best to let your Sangria meld together for about 30 minutes- 2 hours. We recommend chilling the sangria in the refrigerator for 1 hour to let the flavors blend and also chill the sangria at the same time.
Patriotic Sangria Ingredients:
- 1 (750 ml) bottle of Moscato
- 4 ounces Peach Schnapps
- 8 ounces sparkling white grape juice
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, tops removed and sliced
- 1 cup blueberries
- 3 honeycrisp apples, sliced and cut out with a star shaped cookie cutter
- ¼ cup of lime juice or lemon juice, to toss the apple pieces in
You’ll need a star cutter like one from this set to cut out the apples. We love this set that includes several sizes whether you need a large or small star cookie cutter.
Directions:
Step 1: Gather your fruit, and toss the honeycrisp apple stars in lime or lemon juice, then drain, to delay browning.
Step 2: To a large pitcher, add the entire bottle of Moscato, 4 oz peach schnapps, and 8 ounces sparkling grape juice. Add in strawberries, blueberries, and apple stars. Stir.
Let your Sangria chill for about an hour.
Step 3: Serve & enjoy!
Substitutions & Tips:
- Not a moscato fan? It makes for a sweeter sangria, but you can make this white sangria with a dry white wine like pinot grigio or sauvignon blanc, as well.
- To make the apple stars, cut your apples into apple slices, then use the star cookie cutter to punch out your stars in varying sizes to get the most from each slice.
- You can swap the sparkling grape juice with sparkling water, club soda, or seltzer water. You can even use a lemon lime soda for the bubbles.
- Want to up the booze factor in this Sangria? Add Smirnoff Red White and Berry vodka- it tastes like mixed berries and is the perfect addition. Any berry-flavored vodka will work great!
- You can use any red or blue fruits- think blackberries or even Watermelon stars!
Make this fun sangria recipe for your Memorial Day BBQ or Fourth of July party. Your guests will love it!
