This fun Hot Cocoa Dip is another delicious dessert dip that includes instant hot chocolate mix in the recipe! We love dipping fruit or even cookies in this dip. It is made with marshmallow fluff as well, to get that fun marshmallow flavor in there, and to make this an ultra fluffy dip.

Hot Chocolate Dip Ingredients

  • 1 (7.5 oz.) container of marshmallow fluff
  • 8 oz. cool whip (or another whipped topping), thawed
  • 2 packets of Swiss Miss hot cocoa mix (1.38 oz. size)
  • ½ cup miniature marshmallows
  • Cookies, graham crackers, pretzels, or fruit for dipping

How to Make It

Step 1: In a medium mixing bowl, combine marshmallow fluff, cool whip, and hot cocoa packets.

Step 2: Beat with a hand mixer for 1-2 minutes, until everything is well combined.

Step 3: When serving, top with miniature marshmallows on top, plus cookies, graham crackers, pretzels, fruit, or anything else you prefer, for dipping.

How long does hot cocoa dip last?

This dip is best enjoyed the same day it is made. I find this to be the case with any desserts we make using cool whip.

Can you use real whipped cream?

You can! You could make your own homemade whipped cream in place of the cool whip. The dip will likely be creamier and less stiff, but delicious.

Do you refrigerate the dip after making it?

You can serve this right away if you’d like, or you could get it extra cold by refrigerating for 1-2 hours before serving. Refrigerate any leftovers, as well.

Hot Cocoa Dip

Can you use cream cheese instead of marshmallow fluff or maybe in addition to?

If you want to skip the marshmallow fluff, your dip won’t get that same marshmallow flavor, but cream cheese is a good substitution. I would use two bricks of cream cheese, let it soften, and beat it really well before incorporating into the dip.

What is the best kind of hot chocolate mix for this hot cocoa dip recipe?

We used good old Swiss Miss, but you can certainly use another hot chocolate mix, and you may even get a better flavor if you use a higher quality hot chocolate mix.
