I am obsessed with how cute these nutter butter turkeys turned out. Ours are made with nutter butter cookies, oreo sandwich cookies, and candy pieces to make the cutest little turkeys that are perfect for a fun Thanksgiving treat. These cookies are great to make with the kids, or for an additional Thanksgiving dessert idea that is ultra kid-friendly. Here’s how you can make your own Turkey Nutter Butters.

Turkey Nutter Butters

Ingredients

6 oreo cookies
12 nutter butter cookies
60 candy corn pieces
12 chocolate candy corn pieces
24 candy eyes
½ cup red frosting – you can make this easy by using store-bought frosting. Pillsbury usually puts out a red frosting around the holidays.
1 (10 oz) package of milk chocolate melting wafers

How to Make Turkey Nutter Butter Cookies

Step 1: Separate the oreo cookie halves and discard the filling.

Step 2: Take the chocolate candy corn and cut off a triangle from the orange end for each turkey beak.

Step 3: Melt the chocolate melting wafers, by microwaving in a microwave safe bowl on 30 second intervals, stirring well in between. Dip one end of each nutter butter cookie into the melted chocolate, letting the excess drip off, and place it onto the bottom half of one of the oreo cookie halves. About halfway up, leave room for the candy corn “feathers” around the top half.

Step 4: Attach an orange candy corn beak, and two candy eyes.

Step 5: Take the red frosting, and pipe just a bit onto the back of the candy corn pieces, and place them around the top of the oreo cookie halves, against the chocolate dipped nutter butter to make the feathers.

Tip: If your nutter butters try to detach themselves from the oreo cookie halves, slide an extra candy corn under the plain end of the nutter butter to hold it up while the chocolate sets.
Allow the cookies to set until the chocolate hardens. Then, pipe a bit of red frosting beside the candy corn beak to make the turkey’s gobbler.

Turkey Nutter Butters Tips & Tricks

  • For best results, make sure and add any icings to a piping bag so you can get precise placement on your cookies.
  • You can make these ahead of time, but I wouldn’t freeze them. They can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature, until they turn stale, essentially.
