Why You’ll Love these Nutter Butter Acorns

There’s so much to love about these easy fall cookies.

  • First, they’re completely no-bake. We’re starting with store bought Nutter Butter cookies and dressing them up to look like little acorns, which means you don’t have to worry about making cookie dough or turning on the oven.
  • They’re also made with just four simple ingredients.
  • Most importantly, they’re adorable! The combination of peanut-shaped Nutter Butter cookies, chocolate sprinkles, and tiny pretzel stems turns an everyday cookie into a fun fall treat.

Ingredients

Here’s everything you’ll need to make these easy Nutter Butter acorn cookies:

  • Nutter Butter cookies – each cookie is broken in half to create two acorns.
  • Chocolate almond bark – melted chocolate almond bark creates the chocolate-dipped acorn cap and helps hold the sprinkles and pretzel stem in place.
  • Chocolate sprinkles – These give the top of each cookie a little texture so it looks more like an acorn.
  • Pretzel sticks – Small pieces of pretzel stcks become the adorable little acorn stems.

That’s it! Just four ingredients are all you need.

How to Make Nutter Butter Acorns

Step 1: Start by carefully breaking each Nutter Butter cookie in half. Each half of the cookie will become one acorn.

Step 2: Next, melt your chocolate almond bark. Place the almond bark in a microwave-safe bowl and microwave it in 30-second increments, stirring thoroughly between each interval. Continue until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.

Step 3: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper so you have somewhere to place the finished cooies. Dip the top of one Nutter Butter half into the melted chocolate. Lift it out and allow the excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl.

Step 4: While the chocolate is still wet, sprinkle chocolate sprinkles over the dipped portion.

Step 6: Break off a small piece of a pretzel stick, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch long, and gently press it into the chocolate at the top of the cookie to create the acorn stem.

Place the finished acorn onto the parchment-lined baking sheet and repeat the remaining cookies.

Allow the chocolate to set completely before serving or storing.

Tips for Making Acorn Cookies

These Nutter Butter acorns are really simple to make, but a few little tricks can make the process even easier.

  • When breaking the Nutter Butters, work gently so the cookies don’t crumble. You want to create two fairly even halves from each cookie.
  • Make sure you also let the excess chocolate drip back off after dipping. Too much chocolate can make the acorn tops look bulky and may cause the chocolate to drip down the cookie.
  • Have your chocolate sprinkles and pretzel pieces ready before you begin dipping. You’ll want to add both while the chocolate is still soft.
  • If the melted almond bark starts to thicken while you’re working, microwave it again briefly and stir until it is smooth.

A Fun Fall Treat for Kids

These acorn cookies are a great fall treat to make with kids because most of the decorating is simple enough for little helpers.

Adults can handle melting the chocolate, while kids can add the chocolate sprinkles and pretzel stems.

You can even set up a little decorating station with the cookie halves, melted chocolate, sprinkles, and pretzel pieces and let everyone make their own acorns.

Perfect for Thanksgiving

Nutter Butter Acorns are especially cute for Thanksgiving.

Serve them alongside your other Thanksgiving desserts, add them to a Fall dessert board, or use them as an edible decoration around a larger dessert.

They’re also a fun option when you want to bring something festive to a Thanksgiving gathering, but don’t want to make another pie or complicated dessert.

Because they’re small and easy to pick up, they’re perfect for grazing thoughout a party, too.

How to Store Nutter Butter Acorns

Once the chocolate has completely set, store your cookies in an airtight container at room temperature.

If you’re stacking then, place a piece of parchment or wax paper between the layers to help protect the chocolate decorations.

For the best texture, keep them somewhere cool and dry so the chocolate doesn’t soften or melt.

Whether you’re planning a Thanksgiving celebration, looking for an easy Fall dessert, or just want a fun seasonal activity to make with the kids, these Nutter Butter Acorns are such a cute option.
