If you’re looking for an easy Halloween party game that works for kids, teens, and adults, these Halloween charades are such a fun way to celebrate! Our free printable Halloween charades cards are filled with spooky, funny, and classic Halloween ideas that are perfect for family Halloween celebrations, classroom parties, or a Halloween game night at home.

Free Printable Halloween Charades

Charades is one of my favorite party games because there’s almost no setup involved. Print the cards, cut them apart, and you’re ready to play. Plus, watching everyone attempt to act out things like turning into a werewolf or getting trapped in a coffin might be even more entertaining than actually winning the game!

Our Halloween charades printable includes 40 different Halloween-themed prompts, with a mix of characters, activities, spooky situations, and funny challenges.
You’ll find prompts like:

  • Walking through a haunted house
  • Eating a poisoned apple
  • Infected by a zombie
  • Turning into a werewolf under a full moon
  • Walking through a spiderweb
  • Fortune teller
  • Ghostbuster
  • Bobbing for apples
  • Angry witch
  • Making a potion
  • Trick-or-treating
  • Dancing skeleton
  • Headless horseman
  • Alien invasion
  • Getting lost in a corn maze
  • Finding a ghost in your mirror

There are plenty of easy cards mixed with more challenging ones, which makes this game especially fun for a group with different ages.

The printable also includes a page of blank Halloween charades cards, so you can add your own ideas before you play.

How to Play Halloween Charades

To get your game ready, print the Halloween charades cards onto white cardstock or regular printer paper. Cut each card apart along the edges and place all of the cards into a bowl, Halloween bucket, or witch’s hat.

Divide everyone into two teams, or simply take turns if you’re playing with a smaller group.

One player draws a card and has to act out the Halloween word or phrase without talking, making sounds, or spelling out the answer. Their team tries to guess the answer before time runs out.

I recommend giving each player about 60 seconds for their turn. If their team guesses correctly, they earn one point. Continue playing until you’ve gone through the cards or until one team reaches an agreed-upon number of points.

For younger kids, you can skip the timer altogether and simply let everyone keep guessing until they figure it out.

More Halloween Charades Ideas

Want to make your game last even longer? Use the blank cards included with the printable to add some of these Halloween charades ideas:

Halloween characters: vampire, black cat, scarecrow, zombie, mummy, witch stirring a cauldron, ghost, werewolf, mad scientist, creepy clown, monster under the bed, and a trick-or-treater.

Halloween activities and actions: carving a pumpkin, lighting a jack-o’-lantern, putting on a Halloween costume, ringing a doorbell for candy, opening a giant bag of Halloween candy, decorating a haunted house, telling a ghost story, watching a scary movie, jumping when something scares you, and trying to carry an overflowing trick-or-treat bucket.

Silly and spooky situations: being chased by a ghost, getting wrapped up like a mummy, flying away on a witch’s broom, discovering a spider in your hair, waking up inside a haunted house, being followed by a black cat, running from a swarm of bats, stepping into a bubbling cauldron, escaping from a graveyard, seeing a ghost behind you, getting tangled in a giant spiderweb, and discovering that your pumpkin is alive.

You can make the prompts as easy, ridiculous, or spooky as you’d like depending on who will be playing.

Make It a Halloween Party Game

These printable Halloween charades are great for more than just Halloween night. Use them for a Halloween classroom party, family game night, kids’ Halloween party, teen party, fall festival, or October sleepover.

For a larger party, divide everyone into teams and keep score. You could even give the winning team a small prize like Halloween candy, stickers, or another inexpensive Halloween treat.

For a family game night, pair charades with popcorn, Halloween treats, and a spooky movie afterward for an easy Halloween movie night.

Halloween Charades for Kids

If you’re playing with younger children, go through the cards beforehand and pull out any prompts that might be too difficult. Simple ideas such as dancing skeleton, trick-or-treating, Frankenstein, angry witch, and bobbing for apples are much easier for little ones to act out.

You can also let younger players choose between two cards instead of having to act out whichever one they draw.

For older kids and adults, keep all of the more elaborate prompts in the game. Those are usually the ones that result in the funniest performances!

A Fun and Easy Halloween Game

The best Halloween activities don’t have to be complicated. With a printer, a pair of scissors, and a group of willing participants, you have an easy Halloween party game ready to go.

Print your free Halloween charades cards, cut them apart, and save them with your Halloween party supplies so you can pull them out whenever you need a quick activity this October.

And don’t forget to fill in those blank cards with a few of your own Halloween charades ideas—the more ridiculous the prompts are, the more fun the game tends to be!
