Okay guys, I’ve been getting so many of you looking for a Happy Planner page size guide and comparison of the different Happy Planner sizes. So, I decided to whip out my big ruler and snap some pictures for you to create this planner size guide for Happy Planner. I’ll be honest, my favorite planner will always be the classic size Happy Planner, but I think the other two are amazing, as well. The mini is perfect for on the go, and the big is great if you are someone who does a lot of writing. I can see filling up any of these planners.
I also have another post if you are interested in learning about how to resize printables for the Happy Planner.

Also, I filmed a quick video comparison of these planners, too, which you can watch below. This is a great way to make sure you choose a planner that gives you enough room for everything you need to write. There are several different sizes of the Happy Planner but in this post we’re covering the three main sizes- the mini planner, the big planner, and the classic planner. There are a few others that branch off, like the skinny classic Happy Planner, but these sizes are the most popular. We just love the Happy Planner, and we even included them in our best planners you can add pages to.
Happy Planner Sizes
Okay, so let’s start with the BIG Happy Planner! This planner is made with pages that are the same as letter size paper, just like what you buy for your printer, so the BIG Happy Planner pages are 8.5×11. You can print regular letter size pages and put any letter size free printables you find in this size planner. This size gives you plenty of space for all of your planning.
The one I have is one of the teacher planners for this year, so it makes sense for it to be a BIG planner, but there are also lots of regular Happy Planners in the BIG Happy Planner size, too.
Okay, so next up is the classic size planner, which is the most popular Happy Planner. There are so many designs and layouts for this size, and it is pretty common across a lot of the different planners available, including the Erin Condren Life Planner.
The classic Happy Planner is 7 x 9.25 inches.
Here you can see a comparison of the BIG Happy Planner monthly layout and the classic Happy Planner monthly layout.
It’s not an astronomical difference, but the BIG definitely offers more space to write.
Okay, then finally we have the mini Happy Planner. It is smaller and compact- perfect for on the go or if you are a no-nonsense kind of planner and just need room for the important stuff.
The mini Happy Planner pages measure approximately 4.5 x 7 inches, according to the Happy Planner website, but mine looks to be just a hair wider, not really a measurable difference, though.
There you have it, each of the Happy Planner page sizes! Here is a look at how the mini Happy Planner compares size-wise to the classic.
Quite a size difference here, but I still just love the mini Happy Planners- they are so small and adorable!
Happy Planner has come out with even more sizes since this post- several “skinny” options, like the Skinny Mini Happy Planner, so for the most recent planners that are available, be sure and check out their website.
What size are the Happy Planner covers?
Now, don’t forget- the covers on these planners are a bit bigger than the page sizes, so if you are interested in making your own cover, you’ll want to keep that in mind! I also have a tutorial on how to make your own Happy Planner cover.
The covers measure-
BIG- 9 x 11.25
Classic- 7.75 x 9.75
Mini- 5.125 x 7.5

If you are wanting to create your own Happy Planner inserts, this guide will help you make sure that your pages are the right size to pop into your planner. It’s important to know the size of your planner, because you’ll want to make sure any Happy Planner accessories or extension packs match and are the correct size for your planner, as well. There are so many different options for things you can do with your Happy Planner, so it starts with choosing the right size for you, and then making sure all of your supplies will fit, as well. When you are purchasing Happy Planner stickers, those books can be designated for either the Classic, Mini, or Big planners, so that’s something to consider. This actually goes for free printable stickers as well, since some creators do different sized stickers for the different sizes of Happy Planners.
